Hide & Seek
There are six official poster for Hide & Seek, they are all follow the same theme and layout and all have very the same image on, this suggests that they don't want to give too much away about the movie, it also means that the posters are recognizable to all of the audience. In one of the posters they have taken the common used phrase 'Come out come out where-ever you are' and changed the words to fit the movie. This connects with the audience as they know the rhyme well and can relate to it, instantly making them want to watch the movie. This movie doesn't have its own website so there is nothing to relate to with the synopsis of the film itself.
The movie was released in 2005 before social networking was a big issue, in result of this there isn't any twitter or facebook sites connected to the movie. As well as this there isn't an official website, the only things on the internet about the movie can be found on search engines. This also means it has no games or apps to help with promotion either so there is nothing to relate with the synopsis of the film. This proves that movies didn't always need this type of promotion and that movies can still be big hits without it.
There is no official merchandise available to the public either showing how they rely purely on the word of mouth from the public to carry the movie from the cinema to other people.
There are two well known actors used as the stars of this movie, this automatically gives the movie an audience. The two stars are very different, one being a female child and the other a grown man, this automatically results in a wider audience.
The movie made over $123,000,000 when it was first released, proving that even without the social networking promotion movies all use now isn't needed.
